Goldsmith Literary Festival
Friday, 30 May-Sunday, 1 June in Ballymahon/Abbeyshrule: The theme of the 41st annual Goldsmith Literary Festival asks “Where wealth accumulates and men decay, must economic progress mean social inequality?” The third longest-running festival of its type in Ireland, this festival celebrates the literary genius of Oliver Goldsmith.
Vintage Show and Family Fun Day
Sunday, 1 June in Connolly Barracks, Longford: This year is the 20th anniversary of the Longford Vintage Club Annual Vintage Show and Family Fun Day. This year’s lineup also includes a motorbike stunt show, ride-on lawnmower racing, helicopter rides, face painting, free train rides, a wood carving exhibition, a dog show, live music and entertainment throughout the day. Entry €10 per adult, children free. Gates open 12pm.
Longford County Choir, Summer Choral Concert
Sunday, 1 June in St Mel’s Cathedral: Longford County Choir and St Mel’s Cathedral Choir present Fauré’s Requiem and Fauré classics along with newly-commissioned pieces by Fiona linnane set to poems by Eileen Casey. Featuring Soprano Maria Matthews, Tenor Dermot Deely and Director Fintan Farrelly. Tickets €15 available from Dennistons, Farrell & Coy Stationery or any choir member. Various venues around County Longford: This year's Longford Pride events include:
- Monday, 2 June at 7pm in Longford Library: Launch of the Always Proud art exhibition
- Tuesday, 3 June at 5.30pm in Longford County Council, Áras an Chontae offices: Poetry reading and launch of Longford Pride 2025
- Thursday, 5 June from 4-6pm in The Attic House: Seminar with Hannah Solley from Teni
- Friday, 6 June from 6.30pm in the Temperance Hall: Screen printing workshop with Sophie Carroll-Hunt
- Saturday, 7 June from 11am-3pm: Craft Market at Pig Market Lane. Later at 4pm the Pride Parade starts from Connolly Barracks, with Post Parade Entertainment at 5pm in Pig Market Lane and a Pride After Party ay 8.30pm in the Red Room, PVs Bar
- Sunday, 8 June: Colour Run in Albert Reynolds Peace Park starting at 2pm. Later at 8pm, there will be film screenings in Valentine’s Bar of the Black Mirror ‘San Junipero’ episode and ‘The Adventures of Pricilla Queen of the Desert’.

Ballymahon Market
Friday, 6 June in Skelly’s Yard in Skelly’s Restaurant, Pub and Guesthouse, Main Street, Ballymahon: this fantastic new outdoor market returns for its second date. Browse up to 20 stalls of tasty, creative and fascinating items or art, craft or culinary produce, made, baked or created by traders from near and far. 43rd Annual Ballinalee Connemara Pony Show
Sunday, 8 June: Parade, dog show, entertainment and lots more – with main show sponsor Heslin Sport Horses.
