Travelling by train

 

The Dublin - Sligo train passes through County Longford, stopping at Edgeworthstown and Longford Town. Up to 12 trains travel daily, taking 1hr 50min to Dublin Connolly and 1 hr 20mins to Sligo (MacDiarmada)

You can also bring a bike on the train. The Royal Canal Greenway and National Famine Way routes continues through Mullingar, Cloondara and Longford (Please remember these services require bike spaces to be booked in advance). See the Royal Canal Greenway section on the Irishrail website

Bike rental available in County Longford in Clondara from Midlands Cycle Hub and in Ballymahon from Ballymahon Greenway Cycles.
