  • Corlea Trackway Visitors Centre, Kenagh have lots going on for Heritage Week (13th - 20th August) with workshops, family fun days, trad music & lots more. Plenty of interesting events for young & old!  For a full list of events please see their Facebook page Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre.

  • Evening event at Whitworth Aqueduct 17th August at 7.30pm. Celebrating the 205th Anniversary of this fine structure. All local display of current activities.  Abbey Restoration, Yard Hub, Kayaking, Beekeeping, Music and much more. Come Along and enjoy our Local Heritage Evening.

  • League of Ire First Div - Longford Town FC v Wexford, Saturday 20th August at 7.30pm, venue Bishopsgate, Longford.

  • Colmcille Ploughing & Heritage Day takes place this Sunday 21st August. Gates open from 12am, Entrance Fee : Adults €10, Children FREE. Lots of activities on the day for all the family including Corbally Mobile Fun Farm, Bouncy Castle, Live Music, Murrays Funfair, craft & food stands. Located near the The Glenview Lounge who will be opening for breakfast from 10am to 1pm, Lunch menu will be available from 1pm.   • Ballymahon Raft Race - Sunday 21st August at 3pm Starting at Newcastle Bridge. €40 per team. The Race will be timed from Newcastle bridge to Ballymahon bridge, cash prize for first raft in the fastest time. Food for all participants in Jolly Boys Pizza & Grill after the raft race with music in Jolly Boys garden in conjunction with Longford Live & Local.  For more info see Ballymahon Raft Race Facebook page.

  • Adulting kayaking sessions every Tuesday evening at 7pm in Lanesborough/Ballyleague with Junior Hannon, for info see

  • Farmers Market - every Friday, Market Square, Longford from 9am- 2pm. Delicious, local fresh produce for all to enjoy.

  • Music every weekend in Adies Bar, Lanesborough.  Come in and enjoy some live music and sample their new cocktail menu!

  • Longford Parkrun – every Saturday morning at 9.30am – The Mall, Longford.

  • Clarkes Bar, Lanesborough has music every Monday night in the front bar with Joe Duffy. Great sing song and craic on the night with the locals and everyone welcome to join in. Every Wednesday night is Traditional Irish Music with Noel Carberry, Jimmy Flanagan and friends.

  • Live music every Saturday evening in the front lounge bar, Longford Arms Hotel with Pascal & Davy.  Social Dancing Sundays with live music and dancing, doors open from 8.30pm.  

  • PV's Longford - DJ every Saturday night from 11pm - check out their new Eden nightclub!

  • Butter Market – every Saturday, 10.30am-1.30pm, Market Street, Granard.  Lots of goodies on offer, home baked goods, honey, preserves, handmade soap, free range eggs, flowers and a lot more, fun for all the family.

  • Longford Tennis Club - Coaching available every Monday night, social tennis every Friday night and tournaments throughout the year. New members always welcome, all ages and levels, contact 083 1155374 to book or see

  • Calling all men & women…Social dancing - jive, waltz, quick step, line dance..  Have fun, get fit, meet new people, every Sunday at 6pm. Shake off that Sunday evening at Murphys Crossroads Inn.
