Glennon Brothers Timber Ltd

Established in 1913 by William and James Glennon on their return from America, the company is still run by family members. Since the founding of the business, Glennon Brothers Timber Ltd. has been at the forefront of innovative advances in the timber and saw mill sectors where they are now regarded as one of the finest examples of good stewardship.

In 1998 Glennon Brothers began a programme of expansion when they acquired Woodfab Fermoy from the Smurfit group. Extensive refurbishment and investment in new plant and equipment has helped to turn the loss-making business around. The acquisition of Windymains Timber Ltd, Adam Wilson & Sons and Alexanders Timber design in Scotland, and Dempsey Timber Engineering here in Ireland, have consolidated Glennon Brothers Timber Ltd position as a leading company in the Irish and UK timber products and supply sectors.

Glennon Brothers treat their timber after cutting to size and finish using a number of processes including kiln drying, stress grading, pressure and heat treatments, as well as engineered wood production

Their product range includes pallet and packaging case timber materials, machine finished whitewoods and the branded Glendeck and Glenfence range of decking, fencing and accessories. By-products of timber processing such as sawdust, wood shavings and chippings and bark are all used in various ways to create further wood based products including chipboard, MDF, garden mulch and animal bedding. Through the acquisition of Dempsey Timber Engineering and Alexanders Timber Design Glennon Brothers have been able to enter into the Irish and UK markets for timber houses and engineered wooden roof trusses.

Glennon Brothers Timber Ltd have a commitment to operate their businesses with due regard to environmental issues. As well as using or supplying for end users all by-products from their timber processing, Glennon Brothers ensure their own suppliers provide them with wood sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests. In addition, Glennon Brothers are also certified by NEPCon (Nature, Ecology and People Consult) for their Chain of Custody. This allows consumers to identify timber sourced from well managed forests.
